Eczema Creams And Other Eczema Cures

    By Jonathan Pitts

Not all kinds of Eczema are responsive to traditional Eczema creams. There are some instances when Eczema is accompanied with fungal and bacterial infections, which prevents your skin from healing. Some symptoms to look out for are bumpy or crusty skin, and forming of pus. Medical attention is needed if you are experiencing chronic Eczema.

Antibiotics are prescribed for skin infections caused by staph bacteria. This Eczema cure is given over a course of 2 to 4 weeks. This may last longer depending on the severity of skin infection. Recurring cases of Eczema may be controlled with constant antibiotic treatment. Avoid applying antibiotic creams and soaps, as these may worsen rashes. Antiviral Eczema cures are prescribed for cold sores caused by herpes simplex.

Antihistamines offer relief by containing itch. Oral antihistamines are suggested, rather than topical Eczema creams. Cut nails short and put on a pair of cotton mitts, to prevent scratching yourself at night. Dry skin can become itchy. Drink enough water to keep skin hydrated. Have a glass of water before going to sleep and apply a moisturizing cream to make sure you stay hydrated through the night. Emollients that bear Pramoxine, Menthol or Pramasone help skin hold moisture as you rest.

Patients suffering from chronic Eczema may benefit from UVB or PUVA therapy. Three sessions a week is enough. Avoid staying outdoors for too long when undergoing Ultraviolet light therapy. Hot and humid weather should be avoided as well. This Eczema cure should always be done under a doctor's supervision. Prolonged treatment can cause skin cancer and sunburn.

Montelukast, which is given to asthmatics and allergy sufferers, can also be prescribed as an Eczema cure for kids below six years old. Zafirlukast is prescribed for adults. Patients who are unreactive to Eczema creams have improved by taking Aspirin and Plaquenil. The latter is meant for lupus and arthritic diseases, but acts as an efficient Eczema cure for grave cases.
