Band Live - Wedding Day To Remember!

    By Stacey Turner

Are you interested in hiring a band? Live wedding entertainment is always a nice option to consider and hiring a band is a good form of live entertainment.

Do you have a good band? Live wedding entertainment could be an avenue you or your band may not have considered.

Not only will it be fantastic for the bride and groom and give them a special day to remember, but it will also provide your band with a little extra income.

Of course, its only natural that the happy couple will expect to hear a few of their favorite tunes being played, one in particular being for them to take their first dance to, so you should prepare yourself for any requests made and spend some time prior to the wedding learning a few new songs.

Playing at weddings is a great way to build your reputation as a band. Guests attending the wedding may be looking for a band for their own wedding at some time in the future, so it will pay you to put together a brief information pack in case anyone asks about the services you provide.

It's not going to be all plain sailing as far as getting gigs is concerned but to make life easier for yourselves you could sign up with a local agent the details of whom you will find on the Internet and in the local yellow pages. Why not set up your own website or social networking page where you can show people exactly what the band is all about, collect feedback from those who have used you in the past and tell people about the gigs you are playing giving dates, venues and a phone number so they can call you if they need to.

When you are working out the fee to charge for your appearance at a wedding you can normally double the price you would get doing a pub gig. This is due to the fact that there are extra preparations to make and you are likely to be on stage for a longer period of time.

Please remember that once you have someone interested in using your services you must bear in mind that many couples book their entertainment months in advance, so make sure you have an up to date gig diary to avoid any double bookings. Before playing at any kind of venue find out what the parking is like as you will probably have heavy equipment to unload and load into the venue. Also make sure the stage you are playing on is big enough for the band.

Overlooking simple things like whether or not the venue has a live music license and it is fitted out with sufficient power outlets to accommodate the instruments can cause all manner of problems for a live band so particular care and attention should be paid to all the details, in order to get things just right.
