Creating A Meaningful Tribute To A Departed Loved One

    By Sophia Baker

It is always difficult to deal with the passing away of a beloved. It is impossible for anything to fill the empty space left behind by a departed loved one.

Nevertheless, time still moves even if your loved one is gone; soon, you have to gather up the pieces of your life and start anew. You try to handle the sorrow that you no longer have that special someone to share your life with.

Grief can easily overwhelm individuals who have lost someone close to them. Taking action is one of the manners by which to come to terms with the sorrow that threatens to overwhelm a person. In so doing, the life of the loved one who is no longer with you would still be commemorated and honored.

A manner of taking action to overcome grief is making a visible memorial for your departed loved one. Every culture has a manner of creating tribute to the dead. The act of giving tribute provides comfort, support, and solace for those who are left behind.

Some common ways that you can give honor to a deceased beloved is to have a tombstone crafted with a special message to the one who passed away; works of art or musical compositions personally produced by you can also serve as meaningful tokens of commemoration; or you could hold a get-together at a specific location with a number of friends who can give their best memories of the beloved who has passed away - with laughter and crying all around.

Confronting the grief caused by the death of a loved one is a very personal matter. Do not hurry yourself to "get over" the demise of a beloved; you should allow yourself a period of time to consider the grief that you experience. If you are an artist, you can channel the sorrow you are feeling by painting, writing prose and poems or by composing your own music.

At this time of sorrow and mourning, it is good to have friends and family members nearby who are aware of what you are experiencing and could offer their gentle support.
