Lost Spoiler Alert: What Became Of Your Favourite Characters

    By Gael Breton

Whether you loved or hated the Lost, here is a brief summary of what happened to all of your favourite characters, who escaped the island and who made the ultimate sacrifice. Attention though, spoilers to follow.

Hurley: the lovable giant becomes the new Jacob and protector of island. He is chosen for his trusting, kind and nonviolent nature which also made in such a popular character throughout the series. His right hand man is none other than Ben, who gets a second shot at helping to run the island.

Kate: the beautiful criminal helps Jack to defeat the Man in Black. Before he sacrifices himself to save the island, Jack and Kate profess their love for each other. Kate convinces Claire she is a good mother and to leave the island and escapes on the Ajirra plane with Sawyer, Frank, Richard and Miles.

Sawyer: the handsome con man with a secret moral compass eventually does the "right thing" once more. He double crosses both the Man in Black and Charles Widmore to turn them against one another. Sawyer helps to free Ben from under a trapped tree and escapes on the plane with Kate and Claire.

Sun and Jin: as the group tries to escape the island on Widmore's submarine a bomb planted by the Man in Black in Jack's backpack explodes and sinks the submarine. In the explosion Sun gets trapped under wreckage and begs Jin to leave her. However the Korean hero stays beside her side and the two drown together holding hands as the submarine sinks.

Claire and Aaron: after serving as the Man in Black's disciple Claire has a change of heart when he tries to kill all of the other Oceanic Survivors and she notices her name is not on the list of important people. Kate convinces her at the last minute to escape on the plane back to her son who is being looked after by her mother.

Sayid: the Iraqi ex-torturer saves the other survivors in a heroic sacrifice. Sayid takes the bomb planted by the Man in Black in Jack's backpack and blows himself up, thereby saving the group from destruction.

Locke: it turns out that Locke really was dead all along - Ben used his death to convince the others to return to the island. The Locke on the island is actually the Man in Black in disguise. He is eventually buried in Jack carries on and fulfils his goal of protecting the island.

Jack Shephard: the spinal surgeon and leader of the survivors perhaps not unsurprisingly makes the ultimate sacrifice to protect the island from destruction. He kills the Man in Black with a dagger but is mortally wounded himself in the battle and makes Hurley his successor. He professes his love for Kate and they share one passionate kiss before he goes to meet his destiny. The series ends with Jack dying, smiling as he sees the other survivors flying away, with Vincent the Labrador retriever by his side.
